γ-MSH: receptor selectivity
γ-MSH is among the most receptor-selective melanocortins: of the five receptors, only MC3R has a curated binding value in this dataset, at about 3.2 nM. It binds MC3R and shows little activity at the others.
Bars are sized by binding strength (p-value, on a fixed MC1R–MC5R scale);ᵐ marks a mouse value.
Only one receptor has a curated binding value here, so a selectivity window cannot be quantified from this dataset — but the published pharmacology marks γ-MSH as strongly MC3R-leaning.
The selectivity window is the fold-gap between a ligand's tightest and second-tightest receptor — a compact measure of how cleanly it picks a target. One caveat it cannot capture: binding is not function. These bars show how tightly γ-MSH holds each receptor, not what the receptor then does downstream. To put this ligand next to the others, use the selectivity visualizer; for every value with its citation, the binding matrix.
